Northwestern Middle School FACT FACTivism Marathon

The Northwestern Middle School FACT group has been completing a marathon of FACTivisms. They've been showing an impressive level of dedication and leadership throughout their lunch periods by consistently stepping up to host FACTivisms and using their time to educate peers and spark meaningful conversations about vaping prevention and overall well-being.
Activities like Spot the Not, R.I.P. Recipe, 12 Days of FACTmas, Tobacco Tricks Not Treats, and the REACH OUT campaign are all FACTivisms that have turned ordinary lunch tables into powerful spaces for awareness and connection. One standout focus can be through the REACH OUT campaign, which promotes health alternatives to vaping and nicotine use. Through stretching and mindfulness activities, the campaign materials demonstrate how simple physical and mental exercises can help release tension, reduce stress, and support mental health. These activities reinforce the message that there are healthier ways to cope with stress than turning to vaping or smoking. REACH OUT emphasizes the importance of asking for help and supporting one another. Students are encouraged to reach out to friends, advisors, or trusted adults when feeling overwhelmed, highlighting that FACT is not only about physical help, but also about building a supportive and understanding community where challenges can be openly discussed.

Another impactful initiative is the 12 Days of FACTmas, which is a creative spin on the classic holiday carol. Each of the twelve days featured a numbered tobacco-related fact, shared through school announcements, songs, posters, or social media. This engaging approach helps keep prevention messages fresh, fun, and easy to remember while continuing to provide important resources about the dangers of tobacco and vaping.
Through their ongoing efforts, the Northwestern Middle School FACT group has shown that dedication, creativity, and teamwork can turn everyday moments into opportunities for change. Their consistent lunch-time activism proves that youth voices matter and that with passion and persistence, they are helping build healthier, tobacco-free communities, one FACTivism at a time.
